Every Wednesday, bloggers around the world share a photograph they’ve taken that needs no words . . .

Love it Allyson, measuring the marigolds is now stuck in my head!
Oh, Kristen, that’s perfect! I was wondering, as I posted it, who would remember that song.
Beautiful capture. What an eye you have, Allyson!
Thanks, Cheryl. You have no idea how many photos I took to get this one. Those little guys may only “inch” along, but they are constantly in motion, and of course not particularly interested in being photographed.
Great texture on texture, colour on colour – tenacity
Me or the worm? lol
Thanks, Mary.
Where did you find an inchworm? Is that what it is??
Amazing.
And beautiful.
I didn’t find him, actually, he found us. He was inching his way along my son’s shirt, which had been tossed on the dock.
Oh my goodness it looks almost like one of those cartoon beasties! awesome 🙂
glad you had your camera handy.
Thanks, Pearl. Me too. 🙂
Oh, I love inchworms! They are regulars at our place, both the brown and green varieties. I used to sing the inchworm song to my boys when they were little.
I didn’t know there were two varieties. See the things you learn? Lovely to know that inchworm song is being passed down. I sang it to my boys too when they were small, though I missed my sisters singing the second part as they did when we were kids.
I love this idea! Can I play?
And who can share the inchworm song with me?
Anyone with a blog can do Wordless Wednesday, Suzanne.
“Inchworm” — I have discovered through the magic of Google — was first performed by Danny Kaye in 1952 in the film “Hans Christian Andersen,” though others have recorded it since. It’s a canon; the verses are sung in counterpoint. The tune is very pretty.
I’m going to try to post the link to the Danny Kaye version on YouTube here. If it doesn’t work, I’ll post the video under my photo (above), so if you check back you’ll be able to watch it there:
