Fabulous story here, Allyson. How many times a day do you think he climbs all those ladders! Love it.
It’s my son, J, and he only climbed it once! We were visiting my dad’s cousin’s farm in Manitoba during the summer of 2006, and he and his brother (12 and 10) insisted on shaving a few years off my life by climbing these seed silos. They didn’t go beyond the lip of it, though. I had a hard enough time watching them climb straight up, and wasn’t about to let them get on top.
Wow — there’s something creepy about this. Keep picturing him flying off when he gets to the top.
Yes, that’s what I was picturing too, as I held my breath down below. But he was determined.
How can a kid resist?
Exactly! And I have to admit, I climbed about two-thirds of the way up myself. The view was fine — fine enough that I climbed right back down.
What a gorgeous image. That sky against those vats. And all of them, so pristine. I’ve recently been fascinated myself by just such vats with the stairs going up them… so this is like a bit of serendipity. (Though I’ve not come across anything as picturesque as this!) As for accompanying story… hmmm. He’s a leg model and this is how he keeps the gams in shape?
Thanks, Carin. It’s interesting that you have an interest in silos. Some Wordless connection between us, perhaps? I loved the colours too — white against the blue sky — and the repeating pattern of their shapes.
